Individual Therapy for LGBTQ Adults
I am not accepting new clients.
I provide individual psychotherapy services via telehealth to LGBTQ adults seeking services for various kinds of distress or who would like support coping with daily stressors. I am a Certified Clinical Telemental Health Provider, and a licensed psychologist in California. I particularly specialize in working with queer women, trans and nonbinary people, and people with disabilities. I also love working with people coping with anxiety, ADHD, or trauma symptoms. I do not provide couples or family therapy, but partners, family members, or caregivers may join sessions as appropriate and with your permission.
Telehealth services are not appropriate for everyone. Given that I do not have an in-person office to meet, my practice is not suited for people with: suicidal ideation or attempts, self-harm, homicidal thoughts/behaviors, severe or complex symptoms or diagnoses (e.g., psychosis, significant substance abuse, or eating disorders), inability to adequately function in basic daily living activities, emergency or crisis, or other situations that require more direct support. I have limited availability in my practice and thus, I can only offer once weekly sessions. If you need greater flexibility or more frequent sessions, I am happy to provide you with referrals for other qualified providers. In order to participate in telehealth, you must also have reliable access to Internet and a private space to join the session.
Free initial consultation. Finding the right therapist for you is all about fit. Before you schedule a first session, I am happy to provide a 15-20 minute free initial consultation by phone or video so that you can learn how I work.
First session. Initial paperwork will be completed via the client portal. In the first session, you will have the opportunity to review all initial paperwork and share information about your concerns and your background. I will ask you a number of questions to get a broad picture of who you are, your hopes and goals, and how I can help.
Confidentiality. Confidentiality is critical to the therapeutic nature of our work. What you say in therapy sessions remains confidential. Please note, however, there are legal exceptions to your right to confidentiality, and these exceptions will be provided to you in writing and discussed in the first session. In telehealth, we must take extra precautions for confidentiality. I conduct sessions in a private office, using headphones, with a white noise machine outside the door. Please take steps to ensure that you can join session from a private place. If you have any questions about confidentiality, please ask.
Policies. Cancellations must be made by phone as soon as possible and no later than 24 hours in advance of your appointment. If a session is cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice, you will be required to pay the full session fee for the appointment. I have a two-way cancellation policy so if I cancel a session without providing you 24 hours notice then your next session is free.
